I watched heaps of TV growing up. My Dad was a photographer, and my Mum was a school teacher, so advertising probably makes sense as a career path.
Thing is, I don't really like ads, I just like ideas. The best creative I've ever known was a bus driver who had the idea of going a different route to the one they mapped out for him, so he could shave 3 minutes off. Now why doesn't that guy get a Cannes Lions?
But yeah, I just like ideas, really.
And not ideas for other advertising people. Ideas for the average tin sinking Aussie who wouldn't know or give two shits about award shows.  I think the Ad industry has it's head so far up it's own ass they often forget they're making ads for people who just want to laugh at something in between watching A Current Affair or MAFS.
In terms of leading people - lead by doing. Take the tough carries out your own end and your team will get on your back and score underneath the posts. Pretty simple, yeah?
